Dubai marketing director steps down after ten years

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing director Barbel Kirchner has resigned after ten years.

Kirchner is leaving to spend more time with her family in Namibia and pursue her own business interests – but will continue to carry outconsultancy work for the DTCM.

She will be replaced by Ian Scott, former marketing director for Eos Airlines, from October 29. He has previously worked at First Choice and Walt Disney Company.

Kirchner said: “I know this decision will come as a surprise for many, especially as Dubai is such a progressive and iconic destination, but my personal priorities take precedence.

“A great deal has been accomplished by the DTCM since it was founded 19 years ago and I feel extremely proud and privileged to have been part of this dynamic organisation.”
