Israel supplement 2007

Welcome to this year’s Israel guide, produced in association with Travel Weekly.

Holidaymakers have been soaking up the year-round sunshine and exploring the country’s historical, cultural and spiritual sites. With four seas – the Red,
the Med, the Dead and the Sea of Galilee, your clients really will be spoilt for choice.

The health qualities of the Dead Sea make this a natural spa destination. From the desert of the Negev, to the beautiful beaches, there is breathtaking scenery for all tastes.

Even the accommodation provides for a variety of experiences. Visitors have the choice of luxury hotels or modest accommodation that enables your clients to sit in a Jacuzzi, surrounded by the lush green rolling hills of the Galilee.

In a small country like Israel, it is incredible that a holiday can encompass so much variety. Eilat is a great winter sun resort. Tel Aviv maintains its reputation as a 24-hour party town and Jerusalem is the heritage capital of the world.

This year, 185,000 Britons are expected to visit. Our goal for 2008 is 205,000. With the 60th anniversary of the independence of Israel, there will be plenty of activities for tourists to experience year-round.

We look forward to working with you and welcoming your clients in Israel soon. Shalom.

Uzi Gafni,
UK director,
Israel Government Tourist Office
