Newly appointed Elite Travel Group chairman Wayne Darrock is hoping to improve members’ commissions by showing tour operators greater analysis of sales statistics.
Speaking following his appointment at the beginning of the month, Darrock said the consortium would need to build closer relationships with operators, which would be asked to provide more sales data to help monitor members’ performance and prove business effectiveness.
He added: “We must push suppliers for larger percentage payments where we are over performing. We must prove we are monitoring all activity and have the power to move business where required.”
Darrock, who has replaced Neil Basnett as chairman, said he wanted to implement a no- poaching policy of rival consortia’s members as part of a move to work more closely with them, but ruled out any possible talks of mergers or takeovers.
He pledged to review costs, adding: “Many operators feel we don’t offer value for money. We must provide value for them to spend again.”
Darrock added the consortium would also focus on further developing its Elite Exclusive tour operator arm and improving IT systems.
