Louis Hotels is investing more than £1 million in upgrading its properties this winter.
At the Louis Apostolata Hotel in Cephalonia, phase two of a major restoration is under way to add 24 swim-up rooms, maisonettes with private pools, a children’s club, chapel and spa centre.
In phase one last winter, 36 superior rooms were added, along with a new lobby, and the main restaurant was extended.
The hotel has been renamed the Louis Apostolata Island Resort and Spa.
Refurbishments are also planned for the Louis Princess Beach in Larnaca, Cyprus, the Louis Nausicca Beach in Proteras and Louis Zante Beach.
Louis Hotels general manager sales and marketing Popi Tanta Demetriou said: “The market is demanding more quality so we have to upgrade but we will still offer four-star value for money.”
Meanwhile, the hotel chain is to manage a new property in Sharm el-Sheikh in what will be the group’s first resort outside Cyprus and Greece.
The Louis Tiran Sharm is on a 1,500-metre long beach in Nabq Bay and will have 342 rooms, 80% of which will have a sea view.
The opening has been delayed until next year by plans to build rooms with shared or private pools and a spa centre.
Demetriou said: “We currently operate in destinations very focused on the summer months. By opening in Sharm, we gain a year-round destination and one we believe has a lot of potential.”
She said the plan is to expand in the Egyptian Red Sea. “We were late coming into the market but it is very popular and we would like to grow there.”
