LEISURE airline booking system EasyRes is to close next June with the loss of 14 jobs.
Giles Harper, publishing director of parent OAG, said EasyRes had been successful since its launch 10 years ago but customers’ needs had now changed.
Factors such as consolidation in the travel agent market, the growth of the Internet and direct-sell airlines have all had an impact on EasyRes.
Agents will be able to make bookings up to June 28 2000 and the service will continue as normal until all bookings made up to that date have expired.
Harper added OAG will attempt to find alternative positions within the company for those made redundant.
Meanwhile, Harper stressed OAG would continue to provide hard copy and new electronic products for travel agents, such as the OAGGazetteers and OAGHoliday Guides.
He said: “In recent months, we have experienced increased demand for our leisure data supplied electronically and introduced product developments including the improved OAGGuide to International Travel and OAGFlight Guide.”
OAG is Travel Weekly’s sister company. Both are owned by Reed Business Information.
