Exclusive: Travel agency network Harvey World Travel is to launch a new website which allows agents to upload reviews of their fam trips and holidays.
There will be a dedicated section on the site, which goes live in 2008, with space for agents’ reviews and pictures from their trips.
Harvey World Travel general manager Andy Tomlinson said: “Until now agents have only shared their knowledge with clients face-to-face. This means everyone will be able to read about their trips.”
Speaking at a World Travel Market session entitled The Future of Destination Marketing, Tomlinson said the internet was the “saviour”, not the death knell for travel agents.
He said: “Ten years ago we were struggling against competition from call centres and teletext. The internet gives you information at your fingertips.”
He said agents must be very internet savvy to gain the edge over the customer’s knowledge.
