Former ABTA treasurer Howard Neve dies

Howard NeveFormer ABTA national council member Howard Neve died on Sunday following a lengthy illness.

Neve had been on the council when he was treasurer of the association between 1985 and 1989 but also found time to sit on the finance committee, bonding committee and membership and railways committee during the 1980s.

Between 1974 and 1994 Neve, who was in his late 70s at the time of his death, was an active North Western Regional Committee Member and held the position from of chairman from 1978 to 1979. In 2000 he was a founder member of the Old Abtarians.

ABTA president Justin Fleming said: “A great raconteur, Howard lived life to the full. He was a well-known and well-respected character in the travel industry.

“Although a successful and hardworking businessman, he was dedicated to his roles at ABTA. After a full decade of commitments to the Association he promised to leave ABTA politics behind for good and concentrate his efforts on his immaculate garden. He will be greatly missed.”
