The Passenger Shipping Association is predicting that 2007 will see a 11% growth in people taking cruises.

It says the overall number of people will hit 1.35 million – a figure higher than recent predictions.

Bill Gibbons, director of the PSA, has also predicted 2008 will be a boom year with 1.55 million people taking a cruise – up 14% on 2007.

He said: “The cruise industry has been growing impressively for years and the predictions for 2007 show that this growth is continuing.

“There is truly a cruise for everyone.”

The PSA has also revealed it has 43 cruise brands as members with many new niche operators joining over the last year.
