THE lights went out on Going Places recently – quite literally.
More specifically, on Airtours new managing director Richard Carrick.
Carrick was just moments into the introduction of his speech at the multiple’s conference in Ibiza when the auditorium was plunged into a sea of darkness.
Not to be denied, Carrick gamely battled on – only for the electrics to fail seconds later rendering the microphone useless.
Yet still the dogged MD refused to concede defeat in the face of powerlessness, until eventually the stubborn lights returned.
Carrick, who was standing in for the poorly Chris Mottershead, assures us that shop managers did not take the opportunity to scuttle to the exit under the cover of darkness.
