Cunard Line’s new cruise ship Queen Victoria was launched last week in a star-studded ceremony in Southampton.
Travel Weekly spoke to agents who toured the ship….
“It is a beautiful ship, far nicer than the Queen Mary 2. I liked the decor and thought the look of the ship was really outstanding.
“It has been a quiet month for cruise but I’ll be promoting the new ship in January. We’ll have no difficulty selling it.”
Brian Gillespie, Oasis travel cruise specialist
“I think it’s an excellent acquisition to the Cunard fleet. People are saying it’s a replacement for QE2 which I don’t think it is. It is proportionately better than Queen Mary 2 in a lot of ways, which is a huge space to fill.
“They’ve got it right and it will go down well with clients. Everything seemed to be where it should be and it is easy to get around.”
Tony Robinson, Cruising Coast2Coast
“The ship had a lovely welcoming feel to it with more intimate areas than wide open spaces. I felt it would appeal to a broad range of customers. For people looking for a replacement for the QE2, but who felt the Queen Mary 2 was too big, this would be just what they’re looking for.
“Quite a number of customers have already booked and we’re now getting in touch with some who asked us to provide feedback from the launch. It will be very popular with the British market.”
