Mark Warner has axed 15 head office staff in order to meet changing consumer trends.
Managing director David Hopkins said the operator made the redundancies of back office and recruitment staff last month and is currently closing one of its three London offices as its lease expires.
He said the move is being made as the operator changes from full-board accommodation to half board in all but one of its resorts with customers instead offered lunch-time options of bar snacks or restaurant meals as opposed to its traditional buffets.
Hopkins said: “As a consequence of these changes we will be losing quite a few seasonal staff from our overseas operations and if we don’t need so many staff overseas we don’t need so many in head office to recruit and look after them.”
He added the meal changes have come as a result of customer feedback and will the operator’s prices cut by between 5% and 15%.
Hopkins said changes are also being made to Mark Warner’s child care services, with customers now being able to book half-day cover as opposed to having to pay for a full day.
“We’ve always had a one-size-fits-all approach and we’re trying to move away from that,” he added.
