MANAGEMENT at the floundering Nova Travel Group has advised its agents to leave after the Newcastle-based consortium hit financial trouble.
A rescue package with a potential buyer is being thrashed out this week although sources said a successful outcome was looking increasingly unlikely.
Nova, which merged with The Association of European Travel Agents earlier this year, has around 120 members.
Managing director Peter Kemp admitted it was talking to a possible purchaser but refused to give further details. But members, many of them homeworkers, said they had been urged to leave the troubled consortium.
One agent said: “We were advised to join another group which we have already done. Agents who are still members of Nova cannot trade until they do likewise.”
Another source added: “A number of agents are now worried they will not receive tickets. It’s a real concern.”
