Travelscope administrators are due to announce the fate of the failed tour operator within days following talks with potential buyers.
Discussions are at an advanced stage between Travelscope’s administrators Menzies Corporate Restructuring and potential buyers, with an announcement likely on Monday. The 15-year-old company went into administration to seek refinancing on December 21.
Talks have also been held with ABTA and the Civil Aviation Authority on pre-conditions required for any tour operator to take on Travelscope’s pre-existing bookings.
It is thought likely the company, which sold mainly escorted tours and ocean and river cruises, will be split into four divisions to be sold off to another company to protect future bookings. Only holidays up to January 2 were cancelled and a world cruise went ahead as planned today thanks to a deal with ABTA and the ship owners.
