Leger adds podcasts to online brochures

Escorted tour operator Leger Holidays has added video podcasts to some of its online brochures to help agents and customers find out more about its tours.

The company has worked with the History Channel to add videos to its battlefields tours. They provide a snapshot of the tours, a mini documentary or customers‘ feedbackabout their holiday. Leger also commissioned a production company to create videos for its Disney range.

E–commerce manager Michael Rhodes said: “This gives agents another tool to sell our tours. People are spending lots of time on research, so it’s important to offer something different. It’s not just about information, butentertainment.”

The company is also posting its videos on YouTube, along with a TV advert set to broadcast in the Yorkshire region.

Some agents are using an Internet-based Skype telephone service to contact the operator for free, and Rhodes expected a higher take-up of this service this year.

“As more agents become tech–savvy, I think we’ll see a greater take–up of this. Many have heard of Skype but are not sure what it is.”

Rhodes will be speaking at the Travel Technology Show on February 6.
