The Barbados Tourism Authority is running its Sports Camp during August 2008 giving parents the chance to keep their sports-loving children busy during their holiday.
Sporting superstars will coach football, cricket and netball. The sessions are free and open to children aged nine to 17 years old.
Last year, sporting heros such as rugby stars Jeremy Guscott, Chris Sheasby, Austin Healey, Jason Leonard and Andy Goode took part as well as former Crystal Palace striker Mark Bright. West Indies cricketers Joel Garner, Gordon Greenidge and Des Haynes also offered their sporting expertise. Mark Bright is already confirmed to return this year.
BTA vice-president of marketing and sales, Europe Petra Roach said: “The children gain a real insight into what it takes to be a sports star, from all the star coaches, as well as insightful tips on how to make it to the top.”
TV and radio pundit Bright said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for children. I’m looking forward to being part of this brilliant initiative again.”
Agents can sell the destination by telling their customers to sign up their children via the Barbados Sports Camp website at visitbarbados.org/sportscamp.
