Kuoni UK will more than double the size of its agency sales team as part of ongoing plans to grow its business.
Managing director Nick Hughes said the operator is looking to recruit three or four additional members of staff to join the current two-strong team.
He added Kuoni is still determined to work with the trade, even as it opens its own new flagship store on High Street Kensington in London this spring.
Hughes said: “Travel agents account for upwards of 50% of our sales and therefore they are our single-most important booking channel.
“What we want to do is to make it as easy as possible for our customers to book a holiday through the channel of their choice.”
Hughes added sales have remained strong with last week seeing a 20% sales increase year on year.
He added newly appointed sales director Manuel Mascarenhas will oversee agency sales as well as the call centre and retail once he starts work on Monday (Feb 11) while Joanna Edmunds is due to take the role of commercial director in March. Both of the new arrivals are former Thomas Cook directors.
