Hurtigruten planning agent push

Hurtigruten is planning to get more than 150 agents onto its ships over the next year to get across the company’s key selling points.

The Norwegian cruise specialist will start its ‘Seminars at Sea’ programme in March 2008 where agents will visit Norway on a ship and discuss how to promote and grow niche cruise sales.

Hurtigruten head of commercial Kathryn Beadle said: “The response from agents has been unprecedented for us, clearly demonstrating that there is an appetite to learn more about niche cruising products.

“Everyone understands the importance of agents sampling products at first hand – and this is paramount in the niche cruise sector where you need to see it to understand just how different it is from traditional cruising.”

Four seminars are planned for March that will take agents up to Tromso to hopefully see the Northern Lights and sample a coastal voyage.
