Gullivers Sports Travel wins $100m deal

Gullivers Sports Travel has been hit for six after winning a contract thought to be worth more than $100 million.

For the next eight years the sports operator is the sole UK distributor of tickets to all international cricket events on behalf of the International Cricket Council.

Marketing manager Suzy Hillier said the operator will now be looking for agents to distribute the tickets, either through package holidays or dynamic packages, via its subsidiary company Cricket Logistics.

She added: “Ideally we’ll be looking to work with agents who have already got experience in these types of holidays or they need to be confident of themselves going into a country such as India giving the standard of service that we require.”

Hillier added the next key cricket event will be the ICC Cricket World Cup in India in 2011 although there are also overseas tours of the England cricket team to India at the end of this year and the Caribbean in 2009.

Gullivers Sports Travel director David Hall added: “Most sports event contracts are offered for a four-year period to cover the life of one tournament but this eight-year contract allows us to really plan and invest more in the operation.”
