Luxury line Silversea Cruises has announced that its new expedition ship will be renamed HSH Prince Albert II, in tribute to Prince Albert of Monaco.
The company’s head office is in Monaco and as the ship will be dedicated to exploration and conservation, the company thought it was a fitting name.
The cruiseline, which bought the ship, formerly World Discoverer from Society Expeditions, will sail its inaugural cruise from London in June.
Silversea’s Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre said: “We are deeply honoured to have our new expedition ship named after His Serene Highness Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco.
“His passion for environmental conservation is well known and we are committed to supporting his mission by offering travellers the chance to discover and appreciate some of the world’s most remote and unspoiled regions.”
