Silversea Cruises is to name its newest all-suite ship Silver Spirit and has announced its most comprehensive refits to date for sister ships Silver Cloud and Silver Wind.
The 540-passenger Silver Spirit is currently under construction and is scheduled to join the fleet in late 2009. It has 270 ocean-view suites.
Silversea chairman Manfredi Lefebvre said: “Silver Spirit’s design will offer the same standards of luxury that guests have come to expect. But there will be several significant enhancements, including a new supper club, an Asian-themed restaurant and an expanded spa.”
The cruiseline, which announced the new name at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention in Miami, also plans major dry-dock refurbishments of its 296-passenger sister ships Silver Cloud and Silver Wind to bring their interiors in line with its newest ship.
The revamps will involve the addition of an ocean-view spa and fitness centre on deck nine, an observation lounge, eight large suites and will mean a reduction in the vista suites on deck four.
Both will also have major suite upgrades, including new bathrooms, carpets and flat screen TV, and verandas will be spruced up. Public areas will also be revamped.
Silversea president and chief executive Amerigo Perasso said: “These will be the most comprehensive construction and refurbishment initiatives ever undertaken for Silver Cloud and Silver Wind.”
Silver Wind will be refurbished in November and Silver Cloud in May 2009.
