Travelport is to integrate global accommodation-only provider NeedAHotel with its other subsidiaries Gullivers Travel Associates and Octopus Travel.
Travelport, who bought NeedAHotel in 2006 from entrepreneur Sarah Newman for a reported euro30 million, is to move the business from Dublin to London this month.
GTA chief executive officer Kurt Ekert said: “This will allow the Travelport subsidiaries to create a more streamlined and effective business for both the trade and consumer markets.”
The company said it would seek to retain existing staff wherever possible, although Travelweekly.co.uk has learned staff have been told their jobs are “under review”. The company employs around 75 staff and turned over euro100 million last year.
NeedAHotel sells through 6,000 agency locations in the UK. It supplied hotels on the Ryanair Hotels website before the deal was taken over by Expedia last year.
NeedAHotel powers hotel bookings on Aer Arann and FlyBe Hotels.
