British Airways has cancelled 33 flights at Heathrow’s new Terminal 5, which went into operation today.
The airline blamed teething troubles with systems and “staff familiarisation” for the cancellation. Some passengers also experienced baggage delays.
A spokewoman for the airline said, “There have been a few teething problems, but this is not unexpected. The vast majority of services are operating normally.
“The reaction from most customers has been positive and we’re confident Terminal 5 will be a success.”
Cancelled services included flights to Munich, Frankfurt, Paris and Brussels as well as Glasgow and Aberdeen, the BBC reported.
Heathrow’s new Terminal 5 cost £4.3bn to build and is the home for most BA services.
