The first Doubletree by Hilton hotel to operate outside of the Americas opened in Cambridge today.
The 122-bedroom site, formerly the Cambridge Garden House hotel, is managed by Hilton and owned by Ability Hotels (Cambridge), a subsidiary of parent company Ability Group.
The hotel, on the banks of the River Cam, has function rooms, a business centre and a Living Well health club.
Simon Vincent, president for Hilton in the UK and Ireland, said: “With this being the first Doubletree by Hilton outside of the Americas and with Cambridge representing the quintessential English city, we couldn’t imagine a better location to introduce this fresh and exciting brand today.”
A total of 20 Doubletree hotels are planned for the UK over the next five or ten years.
Hilton already runs in excess of 200 Doubletree hotels in the US, Canada and Latin America and the company is also planning openings in Italy, Slovakia and Russia.
