Regulations on what makes a package will not be clear until there is a prosecution and a ruling, top travel technology figures agreed last week.
Government guidance on what constitutes a package was issued in January, but speakers at Travel Weekly’s sister title Travolution’s Question Time last week said this was still a “grey area”.
Triton director Andrew Botterill said: “Until there is a case and a ruling, ambiguity will prevail.”
Traveltek managing director Kenny Picken said agents should assume what they are booking is a package. “You can book three different components with three different transactions but it’s still a package in the consumer’s eyes.”
