Italian government makes Euro300m loan to keep Alitalia flying

The outgoing Italian government made an emergency Euro300 million loan to keep Alitalia flying after Air France-KLM pulled out of a takeover deal on Monday.


Alitalia unions opposed the deal and incoming premier Silvio Berlusconi has pledged to keep the airline in Italian hands.
