American Airlines boss brands Heathrow a dump

A senior American Airlines executive has slammed Heathrow and airport operator BAA and called Terminal 5 a dump.

American Airlines head of customer services in Europe Don Langford complained of missing light bulbs and duck tape on the floor at the terminal’s check in and said: “Heathrow is in many ways the worst of all the airports my company flies to in Europe.”

Langford described Terminal 5 as “a bit of a dump” and told the BBC: “Heathrow is not just bursting at the seams, the seams have burst. It has suffered from a lack of investment over time.”

BAA insists it is investing £4 billion in the airport, with a spokesman saying: “It takes time to put things right.”
