Fred Olsen Cruise Lines launches charter flight from Aberdeen

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines is to charter a flight from Aberdeen for its winter 2009/2010 Caribbean fly-cruise programme for the first time.

General sales manager Lol Nichols said the move followed demand from Scottish agents as consumers increasingly asked for flights from local airports.

The cruiseline has chartered a Thomsonfly aircraft, which will stop off in Belfast to pick up customers on its way to Barbardos for a cruise on March 25, 2010. It will feature in the cruiseline’s Worldwide brochure, which runs from January 2009 to April 2010.

Nichols said: “A number of agents have said it would be great to have flights from Aberdeen as their customers didn’t want to fly from Edinburgh and we have responded to that.”

Already flights are offered from airports such as Norwich and Newquay for longhaul itineraries.
