Kuoni still searching for tour party missing in China

Kuoni is still trying to locate a 19-strong tour group missing in China following Monday’s earthquake which is thought to have killed more than 19,000 people.

The missing party of tourists were travelling with the niche Travel Collection brand and were last known to be travelling by coach from Chengdu to Wolong in the Sichuan province when the quake struck.

A spokeswoman said the operator is working hard to locate the group with the British Consulate although efforts are being hampered by the fact that all communications in the afflicted area are down.

She added: “We’re still frantically trying to get in contact with the party.”

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is advising against all but essential travel to Sichuan while the operator is re-routing any tours from the stricken area.
