Flights to and from Italy face disruption today due to a general strike and a walk out by ground handlers at Milan Malpensa and Linate airports.
EasyJet warned that services would be cancelled while British Airways said airports in Pisa and Verona would be the most affected.
“We are working to minimise the impact of this strike, but we do expect a small number of cancellations and some delays to our flights,” EasyJet said.
BA said: “Unfortunately we have been forced to cancel a very small number of services.
“We will be using larger aircraft, where possible, to help affected customers and are doing all we can to reduce any disruption.
“Although the industrial action is beyond our control and will affect a number of airlines, we are sorry for any potential disruption to your travel plans.”
Alitalia has cancelled “several” flights and modified its domestic and international flight schedule until early tomorrow.
“The airline has immediately taken special measures to minimise inconvenience to its customers, by rebooking as many of the passengers affected by cancellations as possible on the first available flights,” the Italian flag carrier said.
“To better re-protect travellers, bigger aircraft will operate on several domestic and international routes to carry as many passengers as possible on April 5.
“Call centre staff has been beefed up and additional staff will be on hand at the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to assist customers.”
