BRITISH Midland will not cut its 9% commission to agents as a result of joining the Star Alliance.
The airline is expected to tie up a deal with Star this week after agreeing to sell half of SAS’ 40% holding in British Midland to Lufthansa.
Chief executive officer James Hogan said:”We have stuck with 9% and have no plans today to change that.”
He said joining the Star Alliance would give the carrier a global presence for the first time. “We have found it hard to compete with the global deals struck by our rivals. That will change when we join the alliance,” he added.
