Azamara Journey cruise ship sails into central London

Azamara Journey has become one of the largest cruise ships to sail into central London.

Cruise ship Azamara Journey sails through the Thames Barrier, London

The 593 foot long and 95 foot wide ship – pictured – sailed into the River Thames yesterday at the end of a European cruise for a two-night stay under the shadow of Tower Bridge. It is part of Azamara Cruises’ fleet, part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

The stop at London is part of a 16-night cruise that departed Barcelona on May 16.

Summer 2008 is the first European season for the Azamara Cruises cruiseline, formed in May 2007.

Azamara Journey includes 42 suites and 311 staterooms and was refurbished in spring 2007 in a 19 million US dollar makeover.

The ship will return to the capital in August 2008 as part of a two-night stay on a 16-night western Europe cruise from Copenhagen. A group of specialist travel agents from the UK will be hosted on board in London for dinner and a ship tour to meet the new sales team dedicated to Azamara Cruises and Celebrity Cruises.
