Emerald Waterways announce Cruise Village agent as ship godmother

A Cruise Village agent has been announced as godmother for Emerald Waterways’ newest ship.

Blackpool-based homeworker Gill Williams will be the godmother of Emerald Radiance which launches on May 13.

The ship will exclusively sail on the Douro River in Portugal and Gill will attend the ship’s christening in its homeport of Porto later this year.

Gill is one of Emerald’s top performing agents and said: “I am so excited to be named as Godmother, it’s an honour and a privilege and I can’t put into words what it means to me.

“I have loved Emerald Waterways since my first fam trip on the Star so it’s an easy sell for me. The ships are so contemporary and the service is always first class so I am over the moon to be an official ambassador for the brand.”

Acting national sales manager, Dawn Quinn said Gill was a “member of the Emerald Waterways family” and remarked on her “amazing” support for the company, which launched in 2013.

Quinn said: “Gill is a true ambassador for the Emerald Waterways brand demonstrating an amazing level of passion and loyalty making her the perfect choice to be the Godmother of our newest Star-Ship.

“Agents are a crucial part of our business and it is my absolute pleasure to be able to present this title to one of our fantastic partners in recognition of their support.”

The 112-passenger Emerald Radiance will sail eight-day Secrets of the Douro river cruises between April and November out of Porto in 2018.

Gill is the line’s second travel industry godmother after Midcounties’ head of commercial and marketing, Julie Kendrick was named godmother to Emerald Sun in 2015.
