For many of our readers, Manchester is home. For others it is the place they work. All of them will be in a state of shock following this week’s horrific and cowardly attack on such a vulnerable target.
On a personal note, I have many fond memories from my time as a student there, and from so many amazing industry events in the years since.
Whether it is hosting a Travel Weekly roadshow or our annual Northern Ball, or simply visiting one of the many agencies and operators with a presence in the city, we are always assured of an incredible welcome.
And it is this spirit, warmth and pride which was so readily apparent in the immediate aftermath of this contemptible attack.
As Travel Weekly went to press, we were gathering reports of agents pulling together following the atrocity.
An immediate chance to show support for our readers will be at this week’s Clia Conference, which will be attended by a significant number of agents from the northwest.
And, as always, I am sure the travel trade across the country will continue to support their friends in the region as they carry on helping the community of which they are rightly so proud.
