Virgin Holidays has announced plans to create a branded beach facility in Barbados to host departing guests.
The Departure Beach is designed to allow guests to enjoy the last day of their holiday when in limbo between checking out of their hotel and waiting for a flight home.
The facility will be located on Brownes Beach in Barbados and is due to be completed in May 2018.
It will include a private air-conditioned lounge, wi-fi, gaming area, bar and restaurant, flight check-in facilities and a premium bathroom and shower area.
Nicki Goldsmith, head of Caribbean and worldwide product, said: “Virgin Holidays has consistently launched ‘world-first’ concepts, and this latest innovation is no different.
“We believe that a holiday should be a pleasure from beginning to end and have been working hard to ensure we’ve removed as many pain-points as possible for our customers.”
The operator claims that ‘lost days’ account for 2.4 million hours of British long-haul holidays .
Entry to The Departure Beach is complimentary for any Virgin Holidays customers staying at Savannah Beach in Barbados or those on a cruise that terminates in Barbados.
Other Virgin Holidays customers can add The Departure Beach to their booking for an opening promotional price of £20 per adult and £15 per child.
