A replica boat of one of Thames Clippers’ latest ships has been made out of Lego for the Legoland Windsor Resort.
The 76.2 cm long boat model, made of 6,500 Lego bricks, has been created to celebrate the launch of two new Thames Clipper ships.
It is an exact Lego-sized replica, built to a scale of 1:50, of the Mercury Clipper now in service in London.
It weighs 6.2kg and took Legoland’s team of model makers more than 67 hours to build. It is now on display in the resort’s Miniland attraction complete with a captain, crew, lifejackets, commuters and tourists.
In comparison, the two new £6.3 million, 172 capacity passenger boats Mercury Clipper and Jupiter Clipper, took ten months to build at the Wight Shipyard in the Isle of Wight. It set the record for the largest fast ferry order for a UK shipyard for more than 20 years without government funding.
Other famous models at the Legoland resort include the Coca Cola London Eye and the Millennnium Bridge.
