The Competition Commission is likely to recommend BAA, the airports operator, be broken up.
It is reported that the commission is likely to announce the initial findings of its inquiry in the next two weeks.
Airlines such as Ryanair and Virgin Atlantic have been pushing for the break-up.
The trade backed the Competition Commission interim report in April claiming BAA’s monopoly of the UK’s airports could be damaging consumers.
