BookDifferent.com, a hotel booking site for ‘responsible travellers’, has become the latest business to give The Travel Foundation financial support.
The Netherlands-based online travel agent is powered by Booking.com but operates as a social enterprise, displaying the sustainability certification and carbon-footprint calculations for the accommodation it lists.
BookDifferent donates 10% of its gross turnover to conservation organisation WWF, the Global Forest Fund and The Travel Foundation.
Chief executive Lonneke de Kort said: “Our mission is to create a more sustainable tourism sector by motivating consumers and businesses to book different. The Travel Foundation is the perfect fit.
“We want to take responsibility for the impacts we create in destinations. We have found [that for] business clients, perhaps more than for consumers, sustainability is a key driving force.”
