Hard Rock International plans to open its first hotel in the Alps.
Slated to open in December, Hard Rock Hotel Davos will be a renovation of a 130-year-old building in the Swiss town, which is 1,560m above sea level.
It will take over the building from the recently refurbished boutique Spenglers Hotel Davos and Holsboer Residences and offer 111 “lavishly redesigned rooms” including 31 serviced apartments with one to three bedrooms.
The hotel will be walking distance from the resort’s ski lifts and train station, and will offer easy access to Davos’s museums, convention centre, golf course and the Vaillant Arena, home of ice-hockey team Hockey Club Davos.
Dale Hipsh, senior vice-president of hotels for Hard Rock International, said: “As Hard Rock continues to grow globally, the brand targets expansion in influential cities and resort destinations around the world, especially in Europe.
“Famed for its pristine climate, cultural offerings and vibrant entertainment scene, Davos is a distinguished destination that aligns perfectly with the brand.”
The new property will pay homage to previous occupants Dr Alexander Spengler, who opened the first sanatorium, and Willem Jan Holsboer, who developed plans for the railway line to Davos.
Hard Rock has a presence in 70 countries. Its ski resorts include Hard Rock Hotel Lake Tahoe, US.
