The cruise industry is certainly living through ‘interesting’ times. As operators brace themselves to weather the storm of a global economic downturn and spiralling fuel prices, discerning passengers are demanding more from their experience and expecting more bang for their cruise buck.
But the good news, as we see in this issue, is that despite the economic restraints, operators continue to rise to the challenge.
Not only are they introducing ever-more elaborate facilities and activities, they are introducing bigger and better ships and stretching and improving older stock.
On another positive note, this latest edition of TWcruise comes out during the Association of Cruise Experts’ first National Cruise Week (September 7-14).
The campaign looks set to be the biggest cruise campaign ever, with more than 2,000 agencies up and down the
country joining forces to fly the flag for all that is great and good about the industry and get more Brits holidaying on the water.
And with Travel Weekly’s own series of Cruise Roadshows kicking off this month – the profile of the industry is set for a major boost this month.
In the meantime, we hope this supplement floats your boat.
Happy cruising!
