Celebrity Cruises is set to completely overhaul its nine-ship fleet – starting from 2019.
The modernisation of all cabins, suites and new sun deck and a revamped lounge is expected to cost the cruise line $400million (£303m).
The accommodation revamp will begin with Celebrity Edge and is expected to last until 2023.
In addition, there will be a new café on four of Celebrity’s ships.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, confirmed it was the largest ever investment made by the company to modernise the fleet.
Brian Abel, vice president of hotel operations at Celebrity Cruises, said: “We’re not redesigning the staterooms, we’re tearing them down and building them back up.
He added that the new design by Hirsch Bedner Associates would be “sleek, contemporary and comfortable”.
