The Elite Travel Group’s board members are optimistic of a positive conference this weekend as it prepares to welcome aboard four new members.
Elite marketing and PR director Peter Buckell said in the last three weeks Vimaro Holidays and three other travel agencies, which cannot be named until they have negotiated the terms of departure from Worldchoice, have all agreed to join the consortium.
He believes the new blood and a range of sessions focusing on maximising business in a depressed market will ensure the conference, which starts on Friday in Lanzarote, is a success.
Buckell said: “We are picking up new members all the time, we’re talking with about eight or nine other agencies at the moment.
“I think the difference between us and other consortia is Elite doesn’t necessarily concentrate on the mass market but the specialist market.”
He added Elite is also hoping to use the conference to make a major announcement concerning the consortium but refused to say more until the board has voted on it in a meeting in Lanzarote on Friday afternoon.
