Barrass to rejoin Thomas Cook group

Former Airtours boss Steve Barrass has rejoined the Thomas Cook group as a director of Direct Holidays.

Direct Holidays is Thomas Cook’s direct-sell tour operation acquired as part of its merger with MyTravel.

Barrass, former MyTravel UK deputy managing director of charter tour operations left the Thomas Cook group to work for XL Leisure Group, which collapsed in September.

In the new role Barrass is responsible for the company’s direct-sell brand and the development of its strategy.

Thomas Cook chief executive, independent travel, Ian Derbyshire said: “Direct Holidays is an important part of our business and Steve’s experience in this area will be invaluable as we take it forward.  Our priority is to develop and implement a broader business strategy that will drive growth and further strengthen Direct Holidays’ position as the UK’s leading direct tour operating brand.”
