Giles Hawke has called on keen cyclists to hop on the saddle and ride to the Clia Cruise Forum for charity next week.
Clia’s deputy chair will be joined by Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice-president in UK & Ireland; and Robbie White, of Choosing Cruising, for the cycle to the annual event in De Vere Wokefield Park in Berkshire next Thursday (Dec 14).
The trio has raised £1,542 for Clia’s charity partner, Family Holiday Association (FHA), which takes underprivileged parents and their children on short breaks.
Clia has committed to taking 250 families on holiday through the FHA in 2017.
Hawke said: “We have said if anyone wants to join us then they just need to email me to let me know, have a bicycle, bike lights and a reasonable level of fitness.
“Our charity bike ride will bookend the forum and winter ball.”
Hawke and his group will set off on their 90-mile round trip at around 5am from Hampshire on Thursday.
They will return just over 24 hours later after the Clia Winter Ball which follows the forum.
“The money we have raised from this charity bike ride won’t get us to our fundraising target but it will get us some of the way there,” Hawke added.
