Silversea reveals McAuley replacement after departure to dnata

Silversea Cruises has announced Peter Shanks will replace departing UK and Ireland managing director Lisa McAuley.

Shanks, currently development director at Imagine Cruising, will start in early 2018 and lead a team of 71 from the cruise line’s London office.

He previously spent 12 years at Carnival Corporation, where his last position was as Cunard’s president and managing director.

During his long career Shanks has also served as Clia UK chairman.

Silversea chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio said he was “thrilled” Shanks was joining.

He said: “Peter is the leading expert on the British and Irish markets. I am sure that thanks to his leadership we will be able to further grow in markets where we are already a renowned and leading luxury brand.”

McAuley takes up her new role as managing director for B2B Europe tour operations in January.

Her appointment completes the management line-up at dnata Travel which lost five senior executives to rival operator If Only in June.
