Greece is broadening its image and focusing on improving the quality of its resorts to differentiate itself from other destinations.
The Greek minister for tourism Aris Spiliotopoulous said the country has improved its infrastructure and is concentrating on more quality products such as boutique hotels.
He also revealed a new classification will be introduced in the country to indicate to holidaymakers the quality of the accommodation or resort they are staying in.
On the subject of nautical tourism the country is investing in 34 ports and harbours in the country spending a total of €82 million euros.
The minister said its advertising campaign for 2009 will focus on new techology. It will launch its new portal http://www.visitgreece.gr/ to appeal to consumers who are increasingly using the internet to plan their holidays.
