Celebrity Cruises celebrates float out of newest ship, Celebrity Edge

Celebrity Cruises hotly anticipated new ship, Celebrity Edge, floated out of her dry dock in France this week.

Edge is the cruise line’s first new class of ship to launch in more than 10 years and features a Magic Carpet – a traveling platform capable of seating 90 guests for dinner, and suites designed by UK interior designer Kelly Hoppen.

Celebrity Edge will spend her inaugural season sailing alternating seven-night eastern and western Caribbean itineraries before coming to the Mediterranean for a range of seven- to 11-night sailings in 2019.

She will homeport in Fort Lauderdale and make her first sailing on November 21 2018.

The ship was floated out of her dry dock at the STX France shipyard.

President and chief executive Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said: “This truly is an exciting moment for our brand. The float out process marks a milestone in the building of Celebrity Edge.

“With exterior construction complete, the amazing STX France team will now turn their attention to bringing all of the meticulously designed venues and transformational staterooms and suites to life.”
