Turkish Airlines passenger numbers ‘surge’ in January

A surge in passengers using Turkey’s flag carrier was recorded in the first month of the year.

Carryings by Turkish Airlines grew by 37% in January to 5.7 million passengers – the first time more than five million passengers have been carried in the month.

The number of international passengers went up by 45%, excluding those in transit.

The airline also recorded a record January load factor, up 7.3 percentage points year-on-year, to reach 79.8%.

The international load factor increased by 7.5 points to 78.6%.

Double-digit growth in demand which started in July last year was maintained, with 29% demand growth in January.

The load factor increased for all regions with North America, Middle East, Central America, South America and Africa showing the greatest improvement.
