Alistair Daly to leave On the Beach after nearly a decade

On the Beach chief marketing officer Alistair Daly is quitting the business after almost a decade.

He will leave the company at the end of March to pursue a non-executive career.

Daly joined the online travel agent in 2008.

Alan Harding, who joined On the Beach in 2014 as performance marketing director, has been promoted to marketing director and will take over responsibility for the marketing department.

The OTA’s chief executive and founder Simon Cooper said: “Alistair has been instrumental in the significant growth and success of On the Beach over the last ten years and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with him.

“I would like to personally thank Alistair for his exceptional contribution to On the Beach and I wish him every success in the future.”

Daly told Travel Weekly that he was taking six months out to spend with his family before taking on other projects in a non-executive capacity, which could be in travel or other sectors.

“I’ve got no immediate plans,” he said. “But I plan to become a non-exec’ and have a portfolio of positions.

“If I could sprinkle a quarter of the success that we’ve had at On The Beach somewhere else then that couldn’t be a bad thing. I had ten fantastic years and now I’m on to the next part of my career.”

He said travel was a sector close to his heart and hoped that a future advisory role could “most certainly” bring him back to the industry, although he said his digital skills are “transferable”.

“On The Beach is a fabulous business and I’ve really enjoyed my time there,” he added. “I love the company and I will keep a close eye on it – I’m still a shareholder, and I trust the team.

“I want to help nurture others to build fabulous businesses.”

Daly ruled out taking on a non-executive role at On the Beach.
