Despite a global recession, Brits are undeterred in their thirst for travel.
New research by the foreign exchange company Travelex reveals that 71% of people already have travel plans for 2009, with 21% expecting to book more than one trip during 2009.
The survey conducted by You Gov of 1,147 adults who travelled in the last 12 months revealed that men are more likely at 47% versus 42% of women to head to the Eurozone while women favour Australia and New Zealand.
Europe, excluding Turkey is the most popular with the young traveller aged 18 to 24 with 52% in favour.
Travelex regional director Stephen O’Donovan, said: “While countries such as Turkey, which currently have a weaker currency compared to the pound are attracting holiday-makers, the Eurozone is still the destination of choice for the majority.”
