Efteling


Admission: £12 per person. Children under three are free.


Opening times: spring/summer open daily from April 1 to October 31 from 10am-6pm. From July 10-August 29 opening hours are extended until 9pm.


Food and drink: the park has 15 eating options, including a la carte, self-service restaurants and a range of fast food outlets. Specialities include Poffertjes, small round pancakes with a choice of toppings, for around £2.50 at the Poffertje Kraan restaurant. Special kids’ meals are also available for around £5 for chicken nuggets and chips. There are large picnic areas so you can take your own packed lunch into the park.


Attractions: Villa Volta, Dream Flight, Fata Morgana, Bird Rok, Fairytale Forest, Laaf Land and Efteling Theatre.


Getting there: Eurostar from London Waterloo to Brussels. From Brussels, take the Intercity Service to Roosendaal, where connections are made to Tilburg. Driving takes 2hrs 30mins from Ostend, or 3hrs from Calais.


Sample package: a two-night break at the Efteling Hotel in Kaatsheuvel costs from £234 per adult. Prices include bed- and-breakfast accommodation and return travel with Eurostar from London Waterloo or Ashford. Accommodation is free for children under four, if sharing with adults.
